Hippopotamus Info: The hippopotamus lives along the rivers and lakes throughout sub-Saharan Africa. It lives in water during the day, and at night they come ashore to feed. They eat soft grasses and fallen fruit. Its natural predators are Nile crocodiles, lions, and spotted hyenas. These giants are currently at risk from habitat loss. Drought, agricultural and other water diversions, and loss of grazing areas. Climate change. 115,000 to 130,000 are left on earth.
Line: I used lines by first forming the basic outline of my hippo and to form each of the shapes to make my hippo althogether.
Shape: I used shape by creating different kinds in order to make my hippo look more put togehter and realistic.
Color: For the first hippo seen, I used the color dropper to get the exact color of the hippo from the actual image to make it more real. For the second one, I used a yellow hue for a monochromatic effect. In the third one I used warm colors such as different kinds of reds, oranges, and a bit of yellows. The final hippo was used with cool tones such as purples and blues. For each of the backgrounds, I tried to use colors that would go together and make the image seem well put together just like the first one. Or I used colors that I believe suited the monochromatic, warm, and cool colors.
Value: For value, I followed the different lightings and shadows from the actual image and had to make many different colors, shades, and tints to make the image more realistic and to really show the value from my eyes of what I had seen from the image. For example, the head of the hippo is much lighter than the rest of the body because it was swimming towards the surface where there was sunlight whereas the rest of the body seems darker in most areas to create the shadow effect on its body which I had followed.
Form: For form, I had created the outline and the details that I had seen were importnat to make my hippo look the best that it can be.
Space: For space, I had used the different kinds of colors, as I had mentioned, that I thought would compliment the hippos colors the best. Along with that, I had added a gradient to make it seem kind of ocean like as the hippo from the actual image was swiming underwater and the bottom of the image was dark blue in order to show the depth of the ocean and the top of the image was much more lighter. So as you can see, I used what I has seen and tried to recreate it in the first hippos background.
Reflection: There isn't anything in particular that I would like my audience to notice. If I could do this assignmnet again, I would probably do my outline better than I initially did and be more organized with my layers.
