A soundsuit is a representation of Asian Hate throughout the past couple of years.
The theme of my soundsuit is "Stop Asian Hate"
My soundsuit represents some of the different kinds of things from Asian culture such as the origami which originates from China, rice fields, cherry blossoms which are important to Japan as they are a sign of life and death, and beauty and violence, and the blue surgical masks to represent covid and the hate the Asian community received since apparently every single Asian-American brought covid to the U.S.
I chose this theme because I am a part of the Asian-American community in the U.S and even though I haven't personally been attacked or hated on for covid, I know that there are many in the U.S whether they are young teenager's or elderly men and women, they have been attacked and blamed for something they haven't done and I just thought that it was the perfect theme to do my soundsuit on.
Some of the textures in my soundsuit would be the paper from the origami, the rice grains and fields, the different texture of the Asian country flags, the surgical masks, and the flowers.
